Reflecting on the history and development of UiTM, which has undergone seven decades of progress since its establishment, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong took the opportunity to commemorate the contributions of the distinguished figures who had led the renowned higher education institution.
In recognition of the outstanding contributions of the founder and early leader in UiTM’s development, His Majesty has officially consented to the renaming of UiTM Jalan Othman Campus.
"Among the great figures who made tremendous contributions was the late Tun Arshad Ayub, who led the establishment and development of this university from 1965. In recognition of his services and contributions, I have consented to Jalan Othman Campus being named Tun Arshad Ayub Campus," His Majesty decreed.
His Majesty also prayed that all the contributions and dedicated service of the late Tun Arshad Ayub would be granted rewards and blessings by Allah SWT.
At the end of the royal address, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong extended his highest congratulations to all graduates who had gained knowledge at UiTM, while expressing appreciation to their parents and the entire university community for their continued strong support.
Menyingkap sejarah dan perkembangan UiTM yang telah melalui tempoh tujuh dekad sejak penubuhannya, YDPA mengambil kesempatan mengenang jasa tokoh-tokoh besar yang pernah mengemudi institusi pengajian tinggi terbilang tersebut.
Bagi menghargai sumbangan cemerlang pengasas serta peneraju awal pembangunan UiTM, Baginda secara rasminya telah memperkenankan penjenamaan semula UiTM Kampus Jalan Othman.
"Antara tokoh besar yang amat berjasa ialah Allahyarham Tun Arshad Ayub yang telah menerajui penubuhan dan pembangunan universiti ini semenjak tahun 1965. Sebagai menghargai jasa dan sumbangan beliau, saya telah perkenan Kampus Jalan Othman untuk dinamakan sebagai Kampus Tun Arshad Ayub," titah Baginda.
Baginda turut mendoakan agar segala sumbangan dan khidmat bakti Allahyarham Tun Arshad Ayub dilimpahi ganjaran serta keberkatan daripada Allah SWT.
Di akhir titah, YDPA menzahirkan ucapan setinggi-tinggi tahniah kepada semua para graduan yang berjaya mencedok ilmu di UiTM, sambil memberikan penghargaan kepada ibu bapa dan seluruh warga universiti di atas sokongan padu yang berterusan.
